Laser Tattoo Removal

Lasers remove tattoos by vaporizing the pigment colors with a high-intensity light beam. Black tattoo pigment absorbs all laser wavelengths, making it the easiest to treat. Other colors, such as green, selectively absorb laser light. These colors can only be treated by selected lasers based upon the pigment color.

Anyone considering laser tattoo removal should keep in mind that it takes multiple procedures, requires topical or local anesthesia as it is painful, and it's expensive.

Side effects of lasers are generally minimal, but may include hypopigmentation - where the treated skin lacks the normal skin color; hyperpigmentation - which is an abundance of color in the skin at the treatment site; infection of the tattoo removal site; or lack of complete pigment removal. There is also a 5 percent chance that the laser treatment will result in a permanent scar.

Professional Tattoos are easier to remove than amateur tattoos, because the depth of the tattoo strokes are uniform.

Laser Tattoo Removal - Color-specific lasers

Not all clinics have lasers that will remove all colors. It is not uncommon that you’ll go to one clinic to have one set of colors removed, and then go to another clinic to have a second set removed. Lasers cost $100,000 to $250,000. It is not practical for a small clinic to update their equipment frequently. So, they share clients.

That's why everyone says "Think, before you Ink!"
