Freedom 2 Ink Update

The Freedom 2 ink, the new tattoo ink that is removable in one laser treatment, has been in trials for the past few months. The results, while promising is a little disappointing.

The black ink looks grey, blue or dark green depending on the light. Since Freedom 2 is working hand-in-hand with leading tattoo artists, they've pulled the ink and it will take approximately 90 days to reformulate it, so that it is a true black. Since I'm way behind on blogging, this means it should be out any day now.

Freedom 2 wants to get this right, which means the tattoo ink colors have to be dead on. And, they are dealing with some of the most demanding and in demand tattoo artists in America to make sure their product is on par with or superior to, traditional tattoo inks.

Now, if you look up the word tattoo, it means to make an indelible, lifelong impression in the skin. Some tattoo artists, justifiably, are not happy that tattoos are jumping the shark and becoming more of a fashion statement, than a meaningful statement.

Removal of a tattoo, to them is defacement of a work of art.

And it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone to find out that the better artists claim to have a lower tattoo removal rate.

Today, with the proliferation of do-it-yourself tattooers who "learned to tattoo from an ebook they bought on eBay," it's been suggested that "scratchers" be forced to use Freedom 2 inks.

I think that's a really good, if impractical idea.

Some shops refuse to carry Freedom 2 inks. Tattoo artists are not just upset about removable tattoos. The downside of Freedom 2 being the new kid on the block is that no one really knows what their inks will do in 10 years. For example, certain red inks and I'm not talking about Freedom 2, are known to clump under the skin.

Knowledgeable tattoo artists avoid those types of red ink, or use it sparingly. Since Freedom 2 is an unknown, the long-term affects of their inks are unknown.

These are the some of the issues that make Freedom 2 a divisive force in the tattooing industry.

However, Freedom 2 ink research has gone farther into the science of tattoo inks than most companies who produce the product. The fact that one laser tattoo removal treatment will pretty much get rid of your tattoo, will raise consumer demand for the new ink. Parents, fashionistas, and young professionals will push for the ink to be used on their tattoos.

While everyone in the industry has reaped the rewards that the higher demand for tattoos has caused, it's time to pay the piper. Freedom 2 inks are here to stay. The demand for easy tattoo removal will not go away.
