So, I started trawling (-thank you Autocrat at Google for the correct spelling-) the internet for information on tattooing and tattoo removal. The most comprehensive information was on sites that considered tattooing part of a subculture. Since I don't consider tattooing "extreme body modification," getting the information I needed was very much a hit or miss proposition.
Since I first wrote the article below, the US Military had no idea that tattooing, piercing, body art, scarification/mutilation, and cosmetic dentistry would become so popular and mainstream. They’ve been playing catch up to changes in our general society.
Your first henna tattoo should be in a place where you can cover it if it lasts longer than you expect, and it is not advisable to try to remove your henna tattoos. You should try to let them wear off naturally. Use extreme caution as to not damage your skin.
That being said, the following steps will not totally remove your henna tattoo design, but will help speed its departure. Different skins absorb henna at different rate, some henna tattooing that's meant to last a few days, can last more than two weeks. Everyone is different.
